The
Virgin Islands offer a wide variety of activities beyond golf. We have fabulous
diving and snorkeling; daysailing; power boat trips; parasailing; hiking trails;
and sportfishing just to name a few. Or simply relax and enjoy the pure luxury
of doing absolutely nothing.
CORAL
WORLD MARINE PARK AND OBSERVATORY
View a natural coral reef through 24 windows to the sea. Marvel at the 50,000
gallon Predator Tank. The Marine Gardens Aquarium has close-up views of many
marine habitats and creatures. The Caribbean Reef Encounter displays a living
reef. Other exhibits include a mangrove lagoon, shark shallows, turtle and stingray
pools and a nature trail. Restaurant, gift shop, full service dive shop. Admission
$18 adults, $9 children 3 to 12 years. Daily talks and feedings. For schedule

ST. THOMAS HISTORICAL TRUST WALKING TOURS
Charlotte Amalies elegant older hillside neighborhoods just above downtown
are wonderful artifacts of island history. Tours one hour and longer, from $18
a person (includes free rum punch). Call St. Thomas Historical Trust at Haagensen

MUSEUM TOURS
Daily 9 am to 3 pm at American-Caribbean Historical Museum and Exhibits (107
on town map). Virgin Islands history from prehistoric times through the present,
with a exciting collection of historic costumes, artifacts and photos. Admission
$8 adults, $4 children. 32 Raadets Gade, in town. 714-5150.
KAYAKING & SNORKEL TOUR
Monday thru Saturday 2-1/2 hours in ocean kayaks take you through the Marine
Sanctuary and Wildlife Refuge at the East End. . Virgin Islands Ecotours $50.

SCUBA TRIPS
RMS Rhone. Royal Mail steamer wrecked in 1867 off Salt
Island in British Virgins, now a national marine park for divers. Every Friday
Chris Sawyer Diving Center offers two dives, with full gear and lunch for $115
plus customs fee. 7 am to 4 pm. 777-7804. Every Wednesday Dive In! also makes

General Rodgers, a 120 foot Coast Guard tender near Thatch
Cay, home to a colorful array of fish, and noted for its underwater passageway
of arches and tunnels. Visited by diveboats from both St. Thomas and St. John.
One and two tank dives.
W.I.T. Shoal, a 327 foot Navy LST in 84 feet of water with
schools of fish and spectacular visibility.
SNORKELING
Coki Beach Dive Club takes out snorkel tours (mask and flippers provided) to
a teeming coral reef, $20. 775-4220. Coki

Cruz Bay Watersports on St. John, goes to offshore cays and reefs for snorkel
trips from 1:30 to 4:30. $40 per person includes custom-fitted gear and instruction.

DAY SAILS
Day sail with Captains Wayne and Irene on their spacious 44 foot cutter Sundance,
designed especially for tropical ocean sailing. She will delight you with a
fast, comfortable sail through the deep blue water of the Atlantic and a bit
of British water to one of the many sheltered coves on the north side of lovely
St. John in the U.S. Virgin Islands. While at anchor, swim, snorkel, stroll
on the beach or just relax on deck.
Sundance departs from slip #12 on 'A' Dock, American Yacht Harbor, Red Hook,

FISHING
Sportfishing boats are available for both deep-sea or in-shore light-tackle
fishing. Half day 8 am to noon; or 1 to 5 pm $400 to $450 per boat. A full day
$650 to $850. Boats limited to 6 persons. Call Fish Hawk, Hook-E-Player, Marlin
