Peter Paynes Pulsejets

This type of simple engine uses a steam propelled water column to propel a boat through the water or pump water. These water pulsejets are mainly seen in toy steam powered boats known as "putt putt" or "pop pop" boats.

This is a collection of 4 of the papers published by Peter Payne in the 1970's on his research about Water Pulsjets.

They are interesting in that they have no moving parts, are very simple to construct and can be powered by anything with sufficient heat to vaporize the water.
