New 2004 Fish Sculptures

This web gallery shows the new fish sculptures (as well as some paper mache figure sculptures) I have been working on the last couple of months. I am selling these and the few pieces left from the 2002-2003 fish sculpture series in the Espanola Way street fair (in South Beach) every Saturday night. They are different from the previous series in tha they are finished with magazine paper and polyurethane and they are somewhat smaller (and sturdier) than most of the fish in the previous series. I am also selling them directly online and via stores and galleries.

2002-2003 Fish Sculptures

This web gallery shows the painted fish sculptures I made for the 2002 Works In Paper show in Portland, Maine as well as some other fish sculptures that did not make it into the show and some smaller older paper sculptures I have done over the past 10 years.

The Van Arsdell Stirling Engine

I did both the visual and functional design on this Victorian styled Stirling engine. The first image in the series shows the functioning prototype designed by American Stirling Company and the others show my design drawings and the final engine.

Bernard Smiths Fliptacker, an advanced high speed sailboat

Here are some of the images that will be in Bernard Smiths upcoming book on his designs for high speed sailing.
Boston Acoustics Speaker Diagram

One of a series of Images created for Boston Acoustics for a stereo speaker system manual. The series included wiring assembly diagrams as well as images explaining the structure of the speakers.

Beth Israel Hospital Location Maps

This was a series of 7 maps at different scales showing the locations of various Beth Israel Facilities in the NYC and Brooklyn area.

Henry Dreyfuss / Measure of Man Book

For the book Measure of Man I redid in Adobe Illustrator the entire series of ergonomic drawings that Henry Dreyfuss had done for his industrial design firm. No industrial designer should be without this book.

CoStar Label Printer

One of a series of Images created for CoStar for a Label Printer manual. The series included cable usage diagrams as well as images explaining how to load labels into the printer.

Bell Notar Helicopter

One of several Illustrations for a McDonnell Douglas Helicopter Brochure showing the functioning of the unique Notar System which uses a controllable jet of air instead of a tail rotor.

American Express keyboard/cardreader

This image for a brochure shows the cabling of the keyboard/cardreader for use with the American Express SmartCard.

Center for Digital Multimedia Logo

Final design from a long series of proposed logos created for a NYU computer lab, the NYU Center for Digital Multimedia. They used it for a couple of months and then got someone to design them this. They actually changed the name of the place to accomodate the designer. Go figure...

NYU Center for Digital Multimedia Logos

A page of proposed logos for the NYU Center for Digital Multimedia. This shows a little of the variety of permutations that I can come up for a client in search of a new look but not certain of what look they are searching for. Some of the constraints were that the logo had to be readable in a relativly small size, it had to look OK in a fax, and it had to look good reproduced in one color.

More Center for Digital Multimedia Logos

Another page of proposed logos for the NYU Center for Digital Multimedia. There were even more variations than this. These are my favorites from the series. I guess the fact that they look sort of dark and menacing reflects my attitude after weeks of trying to make them happy .

Communicator Logos

Selections from a long series of proposed logos created for a B2B services firm that involved peer networking and group purchasing .

IBM Aptiva Icons

Some icons that were intended to be animated in the OS of IBMs' Aptiva line of computers.

3d Mockup of Morgan Stanley/Dean Witter Sign

This job was to show a client how their sign would look if the graphics were changed. The left side of the sign was how the sign actually was and the right is the 3d rendering that I made to show the new sign. The actual presentation showed only the new sign covering the old one. I guess this is in the 2d section because I considered it a photo compositing job.

 Coz Mcnooz Logo

A fun image for the masthead of an Johnston Center alumni publication.
